Description: Acquired Brain Injury, Mental illness and Substance Use Disorders: As we know, having just one of these diagnoses can be challenging - so what happens when an individual is diagnosed with all three? Without proper assessment, diagnosis, treatment and understanding of these conditions, the results can be detrimental. In this webinar we will discuss and define “triple diagnosis,” including the symptoms, signs and criteria for common mental health diagnoses, acquired brain injuries (both traumatic and non-traumatic) and substance use disorders. Special challenges faced by this population – and how to manage these challenges – will also be discussed. Additionally, participants will learn about assessment tools and treatment methods for individuals with “triple diagnosis” and how this may differ from traditional treatment approaches.
